Stop, Drop and Roll is an effective way for extinguishing clothing fires. If this technique is practiced and executed properly, it can prevent severe burns and possibly save your life. This technique works on almost every type of around surface.
"Stop" Where you are. Do not panic and run. The flames spread faster when you run.
"Drop" To the ground or floor. Unless your sleeves are on fire, Cover your face with your hands to prevent facial burns and lung damage. Do not cover your face if your shirt sleeves are on fire. Lie flat on the ground or floor.
"Roll" Back and forth over the flames to "smush" the fire out. This action takes the air supply away from the flames and extinguishes the fire.
